Dangerous Goods Classification ProcessThis process supports you in classifying materials according to dangerous goods regulations (see also: Dangerous Goods Classification).
You have edited all the necessary Customizing activities in Customizing for Dangerous Goods Management

So that you have the dangerous goods data available in Product Safety
, you can create the dangerous goods data yourself or adopt it by importing specifications (see Export and Import).
Create and maintain UN-listed substances
You create a specification of the specification type UN-listed substance (LS_UN_SUB
) (see Create Specification).
You define the identification number for the specification by creating an identifier of identification category NUM
and of identification type UN
, ID
, or NA
(see Identification).
You access the property tree that contains the value assignment type Dangerous Goods Regulations
.
You call the value assignment type Dangerous Goods Regulations
and assign a dangerous goods class to the UN-listed substance depending on the dangerous goods regulation. You also need to enter whether this is a collective number and whether the shipment is permitted. Then you edit the dangerous goods data, meaning risk classification, packaging code approval, and transport approval (see also: Managing Dangerous Goods Data).
Create and edit specifications of the specification type Dangerous Goods Classification
You create a specification of the specification type DG_CL_SUB
(Dangerous Goods Classification
).
You define an identifier, for example, of the identifier category NAM
for the specification, and enter a descriptive text, for example, dangerous goods classification for paint.
You access the property tree that contains the value assignment type Dangerous Goods Classification
.
You call the value assignment type Dangerous Goods Classification and enter the data on the transport classification and the data on hazard inducers.

The hazard inducers entered in this value assignment type have a lower priority in the filling process than the hazard inducers that you enter for the real substance in the value assignment type Hazard Inducers
.
Assign real substances and materials
You call the specification of the specification type Real Substance
, to which the material that you want to classify is assigned (see Searching Manually for Specifications).
You check and edit the assignment of the materials in the material assignment.
You enter the dangerous goods classification as a reference specification in the header data of the real substance and in this way classify the material that is assigned to the real substance.
Note
If you assign the material directly to the dangerous goods classification, this assignment has higher priority.
For the setup of the automatic shipping of material safety data sheets, an environmentally relevant material must be assigned to a real substance that requires a material safety data sheet.
For the dangerous goods data to be transferred from the specification database to the dangerous goods master, the assignment of the material to the dangerous goods classification must be unique. The data is not transferred if you use two different real substances to assign two dangerous goods classification to a material.
You have the classification and dangerous goods data available for filling the dangerous goods master.
You can output the data on the value assignment types in reports. For this, you need a repeating group of the type S:CLASS
.
You can import and export the dangerous goods data.
For organizational reasons, it may be necessary or desired to split the dangerous goods regulations as a whole into smaller groups. For the process of dangerous goods classification modified by this, also see Regulation Families.
